LTA ER233 – Upgrading of West Coast Highway

To improve the traffic flow, a two-lane dual-carriageway vehicular flyover was constructed across the junction of West Coast Highway and Clementi Road. Four precast U-girders, 35 m in length by 2 m in width by 2 m in depth each, were launched for the span across the junction. The entire flyover is sitting on fifty bored piles, ranging from 0.9 m to 1.5 m in diameter.
Besides, two pedestrian overhead bridges (POB) with barrier-free ramps were erected across West Coast Highway. For each POB, one prestressed precast (PSPC) beam with a dimension of 40 m in length by 2.4 m in width by 1.6 m in depth was launched.
Further down at the intersection between West Coast Highway and Jalan Buroh, the existing heavy-traffic roundabout was reconstructed. Semi-rigid pavement system was adopted to improve the durability of carriageway and to reduce the turnaround time for lane closure so as to minimize disruptions to road users.
