The proposed works required extensive earthworks and site clearance on existing slope to create new slope formation and embankment. During the process of site clearance, there was a need to blast the rocks to make way for the construction. As such, both mechanical method (i.e. manual splitting) and chemical method using NoneX chemical cartridges have been adopted for this purpose. On the other hand, geocell were being utilized and anchored to the existing ground before backfilling and turfing in order to stabilize and retain the earth on steep slopes.
Further to the site clearance, three drain culverts of 800 mm x 1,000 mm, 1,000 mm x 900 mm and 1,000 mm x 1,000 mm were designed and built across new Senja Link. In addition, box drains of various sizes ranging from 600 mm to 1,200 mm were constructed to improve the drainage system of the estate. To complete the new road link, traffic concrete barrier was installed to enhance the road safety while asphaltic concrete was laid with precision to provide an excellent riding experience for the road users.
Since its completion, the new road link brings convenience to the residents with significant savings in travelling time and great improvement in easing the traffic conditions of Senja estate during peak hours.
